Hook: # 16 – 20 scud / emerger
Thread: black
Head: bead (tungsten) to fit hook
Body: thread
Rib: contrasting wire; gold, silver, red

Notes:

Thread a bead onto the hook small eye first. Match the bead to the hook size.
Lay a thread base and tie in the wire ribbing. Traditionally this midge is tied in black and silver, but it can be tied in a variety of colors with contrasting or matching wire ribbing.
Create a tapered body to about the size of the bead right behind the bead.
Spiral wrap the ribbing wire.
Tie off and snip or helicopter off the extra wire.
Whip finish and dab of head cement.
