SUMMARY:MTFA-Branson FIRST ANNUAL FLY ROD GAMES
DESCRIPTION:The Branson Chapter of MTFA invites members of the Springfield to join us in our first annual first annual fly rod games.  To be held in conjunction with their June 1\, 2022 monthly meeting and pot luck.  To be held at Branson Lions Club\, 1015 E. Hwy 76. Potluck dinner at 6:00PM\, casting games begin at 7:00PM. \n So\, bring your favorite trout rod and have some fun.  We will have four different games: Wet fly\, Dry Fly\, Shoot the Hoop and distance. \n Wet Fly: five targets\, between twenty and forty feet.  The caster begins with the fly in hand and no line extended from the reel.  The caster may take as many false casts till he/she feels that is ready to cast to the first target\, once he has cast to the first target he only gets one false cast between each of the next four targets. A perfect score is when you hit the target = 0\, for each foot from the target you get a demerit of one.  Caster with the lowest score wins. \n Dry Fly: The caster begins as above\, however\, he/she gets as many false casts as they want between targets but will be limited to one minute from the time the first target is cast to complete all five targets! Scoring is the same as previous game. \n Shoot the hoop:  The caster will be required to shoot a loop of fly line through a successive series of ever smaller hoops. Timed. \nDistance: Using a rod with a standard 5 or 6 wt.\, Floating line\, the caster will get three casts for score. \nTournament flies will be provided. \nScoring is just for fun; everyone is welcome to participate. \n  \n  \n  \n

Insects—they fascinate us\, they bug us\, they surround us\, and they bite us\, but what would a summer evening be like without them? Join insect specialists\, biologists\, artists\, and enthusiasts for an evening devoted to discovering insects. Grab your entire family and participate in some creepy-crawly fun for all ages. No registration required. “ \n“Insect-O-Rama 2016 is over and will go down in history as another successful event thanks to all of you and your participation. Thank you!  560 people were counted coming in the front door\, many people stayed for at least 2 hours\, and everyone reported that they “had a great time\,”  “learned a lot\,” or commented about how surprised they were by the great variety of activities. Though casual conversation with folks as they arrived\, I learned that many were first time participants so we were successful in reaching a new audience. Of course\, we also had many regulars who rarely miss the event. \nWe competed with the Olympics on TV\, the first Friday night High School football games\, and many other activities to attract a wide variety of participants interested in learning more about insects. I call that success! Unfortunately\, we ran out of parking by 7pm and many folks left after trying unsuccessfully to park. Two groups told me they left to run errands and came back after 8pm when some parking became available. A special thanks to all of you who were able to park at Farmers’ Park—you made it possible for more guests to participate. \nYour exhibit is always very popular.
