This month we had a fly tying night instead of a regular presentation. Everyone who attended enjoyed it and learned something. Sorry I couldn’t get better fly shots.

At the MTFA State Derby Howard Hawkins, Harry Morgan, and I submitted the documentation required for making the Branson Group of MTFA-Springfield a separate club with its own provisional charter. The MTFA-State Board of Directors voted to grant the charter and it is now MTFA-Branson. Next year, provided that everything continues to go well, the […]
Our own Lezley Chastain is the new President of the MTFA-State Council. The Council presidency changes at the end of each state derby. Lezley will preside over State Council meetings until the next fundraiser in May 2018.
Yesterday, Saturday the 11th, the MTFA-State Council held its pre-derby meeting. The State Council is the “administrative glue” that makes the St Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and (soon to be) Branson chapters into a single club. Its primary fund raiser is a trout fishing derby held at Bennett Spring State Park. This year it will […]
From Chapter President Harry Morgan: We are inviting all of our club members who can to go to Bransons Lions club for a planning meeting for the July 28-29th fly fishing expo. The meeting is Wednesday, the 15th of March at 6:30 p.m. We would like to see a good turn out for this meeting […]
MTFA members: Since many of you don’t follow our MTFA-Springfield Facebook page, you have missed an important post. So, I’ll show it to you below. Tyler Strothkamp and his family have been members of the Springfield Chapter for years. Mark, his father, usually brings his sons to our meetings. They stopped coming late last winter. I […]
Well, all I can say if you missed the meeting at the Lion’s Club Hall of the Branson MTFA – you missed a Great one. Caroline Parker from River Run Outfitters, told us where to fish, when the water is running and when it is not running. She showed and talked about the flies that […]
We succeeded in changing the MTFA-State Council By-Laws at the meeting at Montauk State Park on Saturday, December 3. The changes which concern the formation of new chapters will provide a clear pathway to becoming a Provisional Chapter, and then a full chapter. Of course, this is good news for what I call our Branson […]
It was a good party. I never counted heads but looking at the catering payment sheet, I think we had about 75 people in attendance. We catered the food this year. Food was good, serving went smoothly, everybody seemed to have a good time. The raffle/auction raised a final total of $684 for charity for […]
We will have our MTFA Christmas party and annual meeting on Thursday, December 1, at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center at 6pm. We will have both class rooms with the dividing wall pulled aside. We decided to cater the dinner even though the cost exceeded the budgeted amount. We decided we would divvy up the excess […]
